Novakova, Iveta; Drozdyuk, Tatiana; Ohenoja, Katja; Ayzenshtadt, Arcady; Arntsen, Bård; Perumal, Priyadharshini; Dyvesveen, Martin Skjerve (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2021-07-17)
The need for better natural resource use is currently increasingly recognised, and high emphasis is given to the circularity of building materials and the reduction of activities with negative environmental impact. Legislation, guidelines, and other documentation play an important role in improving demolition activities and construction and demolition waste (CDW) management. Good practices in CDW ...
    • Influence of large-scale asperities on the stability of concrete dams

Ulfberg, Adrian; Jaime, Gonzales-Libreros; Das, Oisik; Sas, Gabriel; Andersson, Erik; Bista, Dipen; Arntsen, Bård; Seger, Andreas (Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2022)
For concrete dams founded on rock, there are only a few options in the common analysis methods to account for large‐scale asperities. However, previous research alludes that they have a significant impact on the behaviour of interfaces under shear. This study investigates the behaviour of concrete dam scale models with varying interface geometries, under a realistic set of eccentric loads. The outcome ...
    • Static ice loads on a dam in a small Norwegian reservoir

Petrich, Chris; Sæther, Irina Vasiljeva; O'Sadnick, Megan; Arntsen, Bård (Conference object; Konferansebidrag, 2020-11)
Ice loads on a concrete dam have been calculated from stress measurements in Taraldsvikfossen Reservoir, a small reservoir in Narvik, Norway, during three winter seasons. Ice thickness was in the range of 0.5 to 1.0 m, and both thermal ice loads were observed and water level fluctuations up to 30 cm were observed when the ice cover froze to the spillway. The maximum global line load measured was 60 ...
